Three cats on the loose

We had a busy Saturday this weekend with three cars out on wedding services.
The Silver Grey Jaguar MK2 was in Surrey for Katharine and Stephen's wedding in South Ascot. We picked Katharine and her Father up from a very nice house they rented for the occasion in Windlesham. After photos back at the house we drove them to Bluebells in Sunningdale for the reception.

Over in Great Milton Laura and David were getting married at St Mary's church. The Old English White Daimler took them to their reception at The Crazy Bear Stadhampton.

Photos from this week's weddings.

The weekend started on Friday. Georgia and Roberto were married at St Mary's Burnham and booked the Jag for their Bridal car and the Daimler for the Bridesmaids. Their reception was held at Old Luxters near Hambleden which meant the purchase of a bottle of their amazing English sparkling wine by a certain driver.

On another Saturday where the forecast rain thankfully failed to materialise, the Jag was booked to drive Sarah and her Father from Abingdon to Souldern near Aynho where Sarah married Steve. After a short drive to enjoy a glass of Champagne we took them to the Great Barn, Upper Aynho Grounds for their reception.

Over in South Oxfordshire the Daimler took Groom Luke and his Best Men to Adwell House for his wedding to Claire. The Bride lives opposite the church and venue so strolled across for the ceremony.

Village Wedding in Blewbury

The Jag was in the Oxfordshire village of Blewbury this weekend for Stevie's marriage to Richard.
Despite forecasters threatening rain all day they got it wrong again and the sun shone. The pretty St Michael's church is tucked away up a quite lane in the centre of the village. After the ceremony the couple enjoyed a glass of Champagne for the drive to Steventon House Hotel for the reception.

Easter Weddings in Woodley and Maidenhead

Here are some photos from this weekend's weddings. The Daimler was in Woodley for Claire and William's wedding at Christ Church. Their reception was at Cantley House Hotel in Wokingham.
Meanwhile Alger had booked the Jag for his marriage to Emily at Lillibrooke Manor near Maidenhead. We drove Emily and her father from Flackwell Heath to the venue then waited until the ceremony was over so we could take the newlyweds for a relaxing drive before returning for photos and the reception.

Major Refit for the Daimler this Winter

We have just got the Daimler back from the workshop following some extensive maintenance work. In addition to the normal winter service the car has had a bottom half re-spray following some bodywork repairs to ward off the dreaded tin worm. We have also replaced the dashboard with a beautifully refurbished burr walnut replacement which really adds to the character of the car's interior. Fancy it for your wedding? Call or email us to check availability.

We operate the cars from March 1st to October 31st each year but remain open throughout the winter for enquiries and bookings. Bookings for 2015 are already high so don't leave reserving your car too late as your choice may not be available.
Thanks to all the couples who booked with us this year and a special thanks to those that took the time to leave a review.

A Couple of Tips for Brides to be

Timing
Although we always have the car at the pick up address early, it's traditional for the bride to be late if not just on time. In reality many brides tend to be get caught up in the excitement of the day and are ready early and want to get to the church. In cases like this we always advise the bride to wait a bit longer because if you leave too early guests will be milling around outside chatting and renewing acquaintances plus other guests have yet to arrive. Ushers will panic and wave the car on as they and possibly the photographer are not ready to receive the bride.
We always pre-plan our journeys and the time it will take (barring any unforeseeable circumstances). Unless the journey is over 20 minutes we will always advise leaving to arrive on time. If the journey time is over 20 minutes we will allow 5 minutes or so contingency and if as we near the church it looks like we will be early we will make a short detour to ensure an on time arrival.
Of course the bride has the final say and we will always abide by her wishes but we will give advice based on the benefit of our experience.

If you've timed it right you should only see the vicar, bridesmaids and photographer on arrival
A wedding is almost as exciting for the bridesmaids as it is for the bride however both brides and bridesmaids often forget the bridesmaids responsibilities. You would be amazed how often the bridesmaids jump into their car, head off to the church and go straight in leaving the bride unaided.
The bridesmaids should be there to help the bride into her car and ensure she has everything with her such as bouquet, bag, emergency make up etc. Their car should then leave with the bride's car following close behind. On arrival at the church the bridesmaids should be waiting to help the bride from the car and make the final checks to dress, hair and make up. She will be grateful for the assistance and it will make  her more relaxed for the ceremony.
Ensure your bridesmaids are suitably briefed prior to the day.
