Looking Forward to the 2015 Wedding Season

Only one wedding to go before we close the 2014 season and get the cars ready for 2015. We operate the cars from March 1st to October 31st each year but remain open throughout the winter for enquiries and bookings. Bookings for 2015 are already high so don't leave reserving your car too late as your choice may not be available.
Thanks to all the couples who booked with us this year and a special thanks to those that took the time to leave a review.

A Trio of Weddings

The Silver Grey Jaguar was popular this weekend with weddings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Friday it was in Bucks for Natasha and Ben's wedding in Great Hampden. We picked up Natasha, her mum and bridesmaids from Notley Abbey for the half hour drive to St Mary Magdalene church on a private estate. We returned to Notley Abbey for the reception.

On Saturday it was a pick up in Cookham to take Helen to the old Town hall in High Wycombe for her marriage to Andrew. After the ceremony we took them to their reception at Monkton Barn near Marlow Bottom.

Sunday Helen and Lee tied the knot at Beaconsfield Registry Office joined by friends. They then had a celebratory lunch at the nearby Royal Saracens Head before the Jag returned to drive them back home to Wooburn Green.

A Couple of Tips for Brides to be

Timing
Although we always have the car at the pick up address early, it's traditional for the bride to be late if not just on time. In reality many brides tend to be get caught up in the excitement of the day and are ready early and want to get to the church. In cases like this we always advise the bride to wait a bit longer because if you leave too early guests will be milling around outside chatting and renewing acquaintances plus other guests have yet to arrive. Ushers will panic and wave the car on as they and possibly the photographer are not ready to receive the bride.
We always pre-plan our journeys and the time it will take (barring any unforeseeable circumstances). Unless the journey is over 20 minutes we will always advise leaving to arrive on time. If the journey time is over 20 minutes we will allow 5 minutes or so contingency and if as we near the church it looks like we will be early we will make a short detour to ensure an on time arrival.
Of course the bride has the final say and we will always abide by her wishes but we will give advice based on the benefit of our experience.

If you've timed it right you should only see the vicar, bridesmaids and photographer on arrival
A wedding is almost as exciting for the bridesmaids as it is for the bride however both brides and bridesmaids often forget the bridesmaids responsibilities. You would be amazed how often the bridesmaids jump into their car, head off to the church and go straight in leaving the bride unaided.
The bridesmaids should be there to help the bride into her car and ensure she has everything with her such as bouquet, bag, emergency make up etc. Their car should then leave with the bride's car following close behind. On arrival at the church the bridesmaids should be waiting to help the bride from the car and make the final checks to dress, hair and make up. She will be grateful for the assistance and it will make  her more relaxed for the ceremony.
Ensure your bridesmaids are suitably briefed prior to the day.

Looks like perfect bridesmaids

Little Marlow Wedding

The Silver Grey Jag was booked by Colin for his marriage to Paula at Little Marlow church this weekend, a lovely quiet setting and location used several times by Midsomer Murders.
After photos outside the church we drove the couple to Moors Hall in nearby Cookham.

Pub Wedding in Leighton Buzzard

Bride Laura booked our Silver Grey Jaguar for her wedding to Steve at the Five Bells in Stanbridge, Leighton Buzzard. The pub has a wedding licence so the couple were married and held their reception there. As always, the car waited until after the ceremony for photos.

This Week's Weddings

Another high mileage weekend with weddings in Newbury, Bicester and a little closer to home in Maidenhead.

The weekend began on Friday where Sandra and Adam were married in the West Berkshire village of Yattendon. Sandra and her father travelled to the church in a horse and carriage with the Jag taking mum and the bridesmaids. After the ceremony they travelled to the village centre in the carriage then transferred to the Jag and a glass of Champagne for the journey to Newbury Manor Hotel.

Two weddings on Saturday, the Jag travelled to Bicester for Verity and Gareth's wedding in the charming village of Bucknell. The reception was at Bignall Park Hotel near Bicester.
The Daimler picked Bride Jenny up from Farnham Common to drive her to Lillebrooke Manor in Maidenhead where she married James. The reception was also held there so the car waited for the ceremony so the couple could have photos with it afterwards.

Four Weddings and ...an Evening Run

All three cars were busy this weekend. The Silver Grey MK2 was in Oxford for Tim and Deborah's wedding at Harris Manchester College. Deborah stayed the night before at the Coach and Horses B&B on St Clements, Oxford. We have picked up twice from there this year, the lady who runs it is always charming making sure she has photos of the bride with the car for her Facebook page.

In Henley the Old English White Daimler had collected bride to be Anna from the Crowne Plaza in Caversham for her wedding to Ross in Henley. The couple held their reception at nearby Shiplake College. The Daimler returned in the evening to take them back to Caversham.

Vineyards and Barns

This weekend Mark & Sarah's wedding had a vineyard theme as Sarah stayed at Luxters B&B, which is on a vineyard, the night before the wedding. Following the ceremony at Henley Town Hall their reception was held at Stanlake Vineyard in Twyford. They travelled in the Daimler.

Rebecca and Christopher booked the Jaguar MK2 for their wedding at Windsor Guildhall. The car attracted the tourist cameras while waiting outside. After the ceremony we drove to the Long Walk for photos before heading over to Saxons Barn on the outskirts of Windsor.

Traditional Wedding in Cumnor and Intimate Wedding in Henley

Contrasting weddings this weekend. Alex and Oliver went for a traditional church wedding in the Oxford village of Cumnor. Alex booked the Jaguar to make a total of four trips to the church. The reception was in the hall next to the church but the car waited until the ceremony was over so the couple could have some photos with the car before the short walk next door.

Over in Henley, Harry and Marisa opted for a lovely low-key wedding. The Daimler picked them up from just outside Watlington for the drive to Henley Town Hall where they were married with a small gathering of friends and family. Newlyweds and guests then were driven to the Sir Charles Napier near Chinnor for a celebratory lunch.

Winkfield Wedding

The Daimler and Jaguar made their first visit to St Mary's church Winkfield this weekend for Jenny and Dan's marriage. (This is a good church if you are a campanologist, after ringing the bells as the bride arrived they retreated to the pub opposite until emerging 35 minutes later for the post ceremony ringing.) We picked Jenny, her father and bridesmaids up from Phyllis Court Henley for the 30 minute drive to Winkfield. A coach was provided for the guests. After the ceremony everyone returned to Phyllis Court for the reception in the newly rebuilt riverside pavilion.
